Dalquist, George And Young Honored For Academic Strides

NEW ORLEANS — The No. 5 Arkansas men’s cross country team has been named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team for achieving a cumulative program GPA of 3.44 during the 2017 season.

The Razorbacks were lifted to that distinction in part by Austen Dalquist, Alex George and Matt Young who received individual All-Academic recognition from the cross country and track and field governing body for placing inside the top-25 at the NCAA South Central Region Championships, while maintaining cumulative GPA’s that match or exceed 3.25. An All-American, George led the way at the regional meet, placing seventh, Dalquist behind in eighth and Young in 16th. A freshman business major, Young boasted the highest GPA of the trio earning a 3.81 in his first semester at Arkansas.

Arkansas is one of 195 men’s teams at the division I level to receive All-Academic honors.

Along with the scholastic recognition from the USTFCCCA the Razorbacks were also honored by the Southeastern Conference, having several Hogs named to the recently announced league honor roll.

Headlined by public health major Ethan Moehn who holds a 3.75 cumulative GPA seven members of head coach Chris Bucknam’s squad notched a GPA of 3.0 or above to earn a place among the SEC’s academic leaders (full list below).
