Facing a 0-2 match deficit, the Razorbacks trailed by as many as six points late in the third but rallied to pull even at 23-all after a string of Missouri State errors. Arkansas erased a match point and arrived at its first of three set points at 25-24 with a service ace by Rachel Rippee. However, the Bears survived all three set points and clinched the match with a pair of kills from Lily Johnson who led all players with 14.

In defeat, senior Savannah Voelzke tallied a career-high 11 digs to go along with four kills. She replaced her previous high of seven digs most recently established last season in a road match at Ole Miss. Offensively, Barbara Dapic paced the team with seven kills while co-captains Danielle Harbin and Breana Jones each had five.

In its second match, Arkansas posted its first set win of the weekend with a balanced attack in the second frame. Holding a 9-8 advantage, the Razorbacks won seven of the next eight points to gain control of play. Arkansas’ lead reached as high as seven point but Xavier pulled to within two late in the set. Dapic restored order and put down the final kill to even the match at 1-1.

The Split, Croatia, attacker led Arkansas with a team-high 11 kills, good for the 10th double-digit performance of her career. Jones and Ana Sofia Jusino combined for 13 kills and five total blocks in the middle. Voelzke and Harbin chipped in with nine and eight kills, respectively. Defensively, six Razorbacks had at least five digs against Xavier.

After three road trips to begin the season, the Razorbacks return to Fayetteville for their home opener Sept. 16-17 with the Arkansas Invitational at Barnhill Arena.
