Darren McFadden Named Rivals.com National Freshman of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas tailback Darren McFadden picked up his second honor in as many days on Tuesday when Rivals.com selected the Razorback running back as the national freshman of the week. On Monday, McFadden was named as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for the second-consecutive time.

McFadden rushed for a career-high 190 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries against No. 4 Georgia last weekend. It was the third-consecutive 100-yard rushing performance setting a new UA record for 100-yard games by a freshman.

With his performance against the Bulldogs, the North Little Rock, Ark., product broke the UA single-game rushing record by a freshman held previously by Darryl Bowles (169) and eclipsed the UA single-season freshman rushing mark previously held by Cedric Cobbs (668).

McFadden also earned Hogwired.com Offensive Player of the Week accolades for the fifth-consecutive time this season. Hogwired.com players of the week are chosen by the UA coaching staff.

Sophomore defensive end Jamaal Anderson was recognized by the coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball. Six of Anderson’s 10 tackles against Georgia were of the solo variety. He also recovered a fumble early in the second half that led to a UA field goal.

Skinner punted four times for 193 yards against Georgia averaging a season-high 48.2 yards per kick. He recorded a season-long 57-yard punt and landed one kick inside the Bulldogs’ 20-yard line.
