Defense prepares for Buckeyes

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Arkansas football team continued its preparations inside the Louisiana Superdome on Saturday for the 77th Annual Allstate Sugar Bowl against Ohio State on Tuesday. The eighth-ranked Razorbacks (10-2, 6-2 SEC) match up with the sixth-ranked Buckeyes (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten) in UA’s 25th January bowl game in school history.

Defensive coordinator and secondary coach Willy Robinson addressed the media following Arkansas’ morning practice, noting UA will take the field against a talented Ohio State offense.

"They have great skilled kids," Coach Robinson said. "They’re big and physical up front. They have two great tailbacks. They do a nice job of making you miss. They’re patient."

Coach Robinson explained that planning ahead for the Buckeye offense will be essential for Arkansas’ success. The Razorbacks rank first in the Southeastern Conference in sacks (3.08, 6th in NCAA) and tackles for loss (7.50, 8th in NCAA) per game.

"We’re just kind of anticipating what they’ve been doing," Coach Robinson said. "And probably picking out some of the plays that they do best, making sure we’ve got those taken care of the best we can."

The UA-OSU game will air on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. For more information on Razorback football, please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
