FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas men’s tennis freshman Johan den Toom earned his second SEC Freshman of the Week honors, announced Wednesday by the league office in Birmingham, Ala.
The Rotterdam, The Netherlands, native went 2-0 at the No. 5 singles position in the team’s second weekend of SEC play, taking down opponents at Auburn and Alabama during a 1-1 roadtrip.
Den Toom became the first @RazorbackMTEN student-athletes to earn conference honors under head coach Andy Jackson and the first to earn multiple in one season in more than five years.
Leading @RazorbackMTEN with nine wins, den Toom is on a roll, winning 8 of his last 9 and currently on a three-match win streak. Earlier this spring den Toom went on a five-match win streak which is a team- and career-high for the freshman.
Arkansas will return to action on Friday, hosting a doubleheader starting with Texas A&M at 2 p.m. and Nebraska-Omaha beginning at 7 p.m.
