Diamond Hogs Begin Five-Game Homestand; Tuesday?s Game Moved Up to 3:05 p.m.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 11 Arkansas returns home after a tough series loss at Florida to begin a five-game homestand at Baum Stadium on Tuesday. The Razorbacks host Centenary on March 21-22 for their first mid-week series of the season and then welcome SEC foe Georgia to Fayetteville over the weekend.

Tuesday’s game with Centenary has been moved up to a 3:05 p.m. start with temperatures in the low 30s forecast for Tuesday evening. Wednesday’s game is also slated for a 3:05 p.m. start.

James Gilbert is scheduled to get his first start of the season on Tuesday against the Gents. The junior left-hander is 1-0 on the season with a 0.93 ERA in six relief appearances and 9.2 innings. Gilbert started nine games in 2005. Centenary will counter with left-hander Brandon Fulenchek. He is 2-4 on the season with a 5.66 ERA. Fulenchek has started five games and pitched 20.2 innings.

Wednesday’s pitching matchup will feature Arkansas sophomore right-hander Lee Land against the Gents’ left-hander Matt Clark. Land does not have a decision this season in five relief appearances. He boasts a 1.04 ERA over 8.2 innings of work with seven strikeouts and five walks. It will be the fourth career start for Land. CU’s Clark is 0-3 on the season with a 7.16 ERA in 16.1 innings. Opponents are hitting .333 of the left-hander who has seven strikeouts and nine walks.

The Razorbacks are hitting .308 as a team this season and scoring 7.4 runs per game, while the pitching staff has a 2.64 ERA and a .230 opponent batting average. Centenary has a .279 batting average while plating 5.6 runs per contest. The pitching staff has a 4.86 ERA with opponents hitting .299.

Arkansas holds a 24-6 edge in the all-time series and has won 21 straight. The Gents last win in the series came on April 10, 1965, in Fayetteville. The Hogs took both games in Shreveport last season by scores of 10-1 and 14-1.
