Diebold, Boyer earn academic honors

FAYETTEVILLE – Tara Diebold and Lane Boyer have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District track and field/cross country teams. Diebold, a member of the first team, is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades. For his work in the classroom, Boyer was selected to the all-district second team.

Diebold owns a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average as a communication disorders major. In 2009, she was a CoSIDA Academic All-America and All-District performer. In the classroom, Diebold is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and named to the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll in 2008.

The Branson, Mo., is a two-time All-American pole vaulter for the Razorbacks, most recently jumping to a sixth-place finish at the 2011 NCAA Indoor Championships. Diebold also earned All-America status in 2009. She established indoor and outdoor personal bests during the 2011 season, and has qualified for the outdoor national meet.

Boyer holds a 3.88 cumulative GPA as a geology major and carried a perfect 4.0 GPA during the 2010 fall semester. This marks the second All-District career honor for Boyer; he was also selected to the team last season. He was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the 2010 cross country season, the third such award of his career.

On the competition field, the Fredonia, Kan., native collected four top-15 finishes during the 2010 cross country season, including an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championships in Waco, Texas. Boyer closed out his cross career as a member of the Razorbacks’ 10th-place team at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Razorback track and field teams return to action June 8-11 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The collegiate-season finale will be contested at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. For meet coverage and continued information, log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
