FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Women’s Swim and Dive team fell to the South Carolina Gamecocks Friday afternoon by a score of 177-123 at the Arkansas Natatorium. The Razorbacks fall to 1-2 in dual meet competition this season.

With a score of 273.97 in the one-meter springboard and 280.05 in the 3-meter, sophomore Molly Harvie qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in both events, making her the third Razorback so far this season to qualify for zones, along with Nicole Gillis and Marissa Green.

For the third straight meet, Gillis recorded a qualifying score as well, notching a score of 318.83 in the one-meter springboard a day after breaking her own school and pool record. All three of Gillis’ one-meter scores this season have been over 300.

Senior Aiden Lister continues to be impressive as she swam to first and second place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:50.76) and 500 freestyle (4:54.93), respectively. Through three dual meets, she has swam in six events, recording top two finishes in every race. She has two first place victories and four second place finishes so far this season.

Junior Taylor Weiss broke her lifetime best in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.29.

 Coach Harper’s Thoughts
“We have been challenging them in the practices and the weight room. They are confident but tired and it’s hard to race when you are in that position. This is a good learning experience for us because it’s not comfortable or exciting. We took another step forward in terms of learning about ourselves and what we need. I think we came out of it with a lot of good experience.”

“We will get to fine-tune a little bit. They are obviously very tired, we need to get a few things in during practice but we can figure out how to continue on the hard work we have been giving and execute a good meet in a couple weeks at Georgia Tech.” – Coach Harper on getting two weeks of rest after back-to-back meets
