FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 18 Razorbacks heads to the Southeastern Conference Diving Championships in Gainesville, Fla. Feb. 11-13. Arkansas, 9-1, 2-1 SEC, goes into the championships with four divers.
Freshman Kesha Naylor heads to her first SEC Championships in the top four of each of the three events. She is second on the one-meter board as well as the platform and goes into the conference meet fourth on the three-meter board.
Naylor and junior Liana Bugslag have each qualified for the NCAA Zone diving meet in all three events, while junior Alex Roman earned qualifying marks on the one and three meter.
"I’m excited for the conference meet," diving coach Dale Schultz said. "The girls really complement each other and have improved on their dives. We have really been focusing on the platform in the new year. They girls are all going to have really worked hard this weekend."
Naylor broke two school records in the Hogs most recent win against Drury. She set the school record on the three meter with a score of 348.60. She also broke Bugslag’s record on the platform. Bugslag previously held the top-five scores on the high board. At Drury, she was just three points behind Naylor to improve on her record-setting mark from 2010.
Alyssa Tomlinson improved on her career-best mark on the three-meter board at Drury as well. The sophomore posted 204.00 on the platform and 247.65 on the three meter for a new career best. The three meter begins Friday at 10 a.m. Saturday is dedicated to the one meter and the platform competition is set for Sunday.
The swimmers continue to prepare in Fayetteville before making their way to Florida to begin the SEC Swimming Championships Feb. 16-19.
