DMR Rallies To A Top-Five NCAA Performance
Alex Wilson Results | SEC Championship Tickets
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The No. 3 Arkansas women’s track and field team picked up another NCAA top performance on Saturday morning in South Bend at the Alex Wilson Invitational. Razorback quartet of Therese Haiss, Daina Harper, Damajahnee Birch and Nikki Hiltz finished fourth in the distance medley relay, combining to run a time of 10 minutes, 57.93 seconds over the 4,000-meter race.
The group’s performance moved them up the 2017 NCAA Indoor rankings to No. 5, heading into next week’s Southeastern Conference Championship. It also earned them a place in history as the third-best distance medley relay team to ever run for Arkansas.
“It was one of our faster times in school history, they really did a nice job,” head coach Lance Harter said. “It was very positive all the way across the board. The mix and match that we’re going to use at nationals remains to be seen but we have some good options.”
Arkansas heads to Nashville next weekend, opening postseason competition with the 2017 SEC Indoor Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt. The Razorbacks head into the event in search of their ninth-consecutive conference victory, inclusive of cross country and outdoor track and field.
