Doubles Teams Split Monday’s Matches

Qualifying Doubles Draw

TULSA, Okla. – Arkansas men’s tennis had two doubles teams competing in qualifying doubles Monday at the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with both teams winning their first-round matches before coming up short in the second round.

“Both teams had good quality wins today,” head coach Andy Jackson said. “The second matches were tough for both Johan [den Toom] and Jose [Salazar] and Mike [Redlicki] and Adam [Sanjurjo]. The main draw starts on Thursday, and we are looking forward to getting started there.”

Den Toom and Salazar outlasted the Fresno State team of Mantas Bugailiskis and Euan McIntosh, the No. 8 seed in the draw and the No. 37 team in the nation, in a third-set tiebreaker before falling to the Mississippi State team of Niclas Braun and Trevor Foshey in the second round.

Redlicki and Sanjurjo, the No. 5 seed in the draw and No. 32 team in the nation, won in straight sets against the South Florida team of Alberto Barroso-Campos and Justin Roberts, before dropping a third-set tiebreaker to the California team of Andre Goransson and Billy Griffith in the second round.

Arkansas will be off tomorrow with no players competing in qualifying singles, qualifying consolation singles or qualifying doubles. The Razorbacks will return to action on Thursday as Redlicki, the No. 11 player in the nation, and Salazar, ranked No. 45 in the nation, begin play in the singles main draw at the ITA All-American.

The tournament will have live scoring available and live streaming for the main draw matches. Results will be posted at the conclusion of each day throughout the tournament.
