Doubles advance to Sweet 16

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s tennis doubles team of senior Dmitry Lebedev and junior Chris Nott picked up another win Thursday and advanced to the round of 16 at the 2009 D’Novo All-American Men’s Tennis Championships, in Tulsa, Okla.

"Our guys played solid Arkansas doubles today," head coach Robert Cox said. "They won four matches in a row and are on a great roll. We want to continue to play good tennis."

Lebedev and Nott, ranked No. 43 in the ITA preseason rankings, won their fourth-consecutive match on Thursday with an upset victory over the No. 22-ranked duo of Victor Melo and John Peers of Middle Tennessee State, 8-6.

The duo will return to action Friday against the No. 8 tournament seed Dimitar Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala of Texas, ranked No. 13 in the ITA preseason poll. The match time will be determined at the conclusion of Thursday’s matches.

Lebedev and Nott started their winning run with an 8-5 win over Minnesota’s Dino Bilankov and Sebastian Gallego. The winning streak continued with an 8-2 win over Leo Rosenberg and Andreas Weber of Hawaii and an 8-1 victory over Jack Roux and Javier Tori of USC-Upstate.
