Duo Selected To SEC All-Freshman Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Defensive Lineman McTelvin Agim and linebacker De’Jon Harris earned postseason honors from the league office Thursday when they were named to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team as voted by the conference’s head coaches.

Arkansas has had at least one player on the SEC All-Freshman team 13 straight years, while Agim and Harris are the eighth and ninth, respectively, under head coach Bret Bielema. The duo’s selection also marks the second straight year the Razorbacks have landed two players on the SEC All-Freshman team as running back Rawleigh Williams III and linebacker Dre Greenlaw were honored in 2015.

Agim, who started four of 12 games played this year, recorded at least one-half tackle for loss in six games, totaling 5.0 over those six contests to rank tied for second on the team. The Texarkana, Texas, native also tied for second among SEC freshmen in sacks with 2.5. Agim made his first career start at defensive tackle in the Razorbacks’ 31-10 win at home against then-No. 11 Florida on Nov. 5, and hasn’t relinquished that role since. Agim is the first Arkansas defensive lineman since Darius Philon in 2013 to be honored on the SEC All-Freshman team.

Harris tallied 34 tackles, adding 2.0 tackles for loss, one sack and one forced fumble. He led the Razorbacks in tackles twice this year, including a 10-tackle performance at Mississippi State on Nov. 19. The Harvey, Louisiana, product was one of Arkansas’ top tacklers on special teams with nine stops, good for the second-most on the team.
