Pre-Qualifying Singles Draw (PDF)
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — With fall competition in full swing, 60th-ranked Ana Oparenovic and senior co-captain Shannon Hudson are set to represent Arkansas at the 2016 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships.
For the 31st consecutive year, the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, will serve as host for both the qualifying and main draw matches. Pre-qualifying matches are slated to begin on Saturday at Pepperdine University, with qualifying matches starting on Oct. 4 and main draw contests getting underway on Oct. 6. The singles and doubles finals are scheduled for Oct. 9.
This will mark the fourth straight season the Razorbacks have been represented at the Riveria/ITA All-American Championships, including a third consecutive trip for Hudson. A 2015 Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team selection, Oparenovic becomes the 23rd player under head coach Michael Hegarty to be selected to the prestigious tournament.
Hudson is set to compete for the first time this fall. She will face Duke’s Meible Chi in the pre-qualifying singles draw at 10:15 a.m. CDT on Saturday. Oparenovic, who went 2-1 in singles and 3-1 in doubles last weekend at the Little Rock Classic in Little Rock, Arkansas, will compete in the qualifying singles draw on Oct. 4. Match time and opponent are to be determined. Hudson and Oparenovic will also team up in the qualifying doubles draw. The tandem is ranked 49th nationally.
Hudson turned in an impressive performance at last year’s Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, winning all three of her pre-qualifying draw singles matches in straight sets to advance to the qualifying draw.
Main draw singles semifinalists, main draw doubles finalists and main draw consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the 2016 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 3-6 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.
