Easley plays for dream team in Italy

REGGIO EMILIA, Italy – Former University of Arkansas softball player Shana Easley is a member of the Reggio Emilia Dream Team playing softball in Northern Italy this summer. “So far it’s been a really awesome experience,” said Easley. “The people here treat me so well. Anything that I could ever want or need they are more than willing to help me with.” A Loveland, Colo., native, Easley is the team’s starting catcher and had a 1.000 batting average in four consecutive games. She resides for the summer in Reggio Emilia, Italy, with a host family. “I live with a mother and her daughter,” continued Easley. “The mother coaches one of the younger teams, which I have actually been helping coach as well. The team is called Reggio Emilia Dream Team-Ragazze.” While life in another country may seem different, Easley has found a routine similar to that of her days as a student-athlete. “My typical day is getting up to go run, working on the computer in the afternoon and going to coach and practice at the field for most of the evening,” Easley said. Easley was a former catcher and more recently a former graduate assistant for the Razorback softball program. She also played professional softball for one season with the Arizona Heat, a former team of the current National Pro Fastpitch League.
