FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In recognition of her remarkable academic and athletic performances this season, Arkansas women’s track and field captain Taylor Ellis-Watson has been voted to the 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 First Team.

Since her arrival in Fayetteville in 2013, the Philadelphia native has distinguished herself as an elite student-athlete racking up Southeastern Conference honor roll accolades as well as 400-meter dash conference titles.

A nine-time All-American, Ellis-Watson has been racing to a breakout senior season collecting two NCAA silver medals during her indoor campaign and securing her claim as one of the best quarter-milers in program history off her 50.78 second record-breaking performance at the LSU Invitational.

The 2016 SEC Indoor Scholar Athlete of the Year, Ellis-Watson holds a 4.0 GPA as she pursues her masters in clinical and mental health counseling. She was recently selected as the University of Arkansas’s H. Boyd McWhorter scholarship nominee for the 2015-16 academic year.

The No. 2 Razorback women’s team return to competition May 26-28 at the NCAA West Preliminary in Lawrence, Kansas. The top 12 qualifiers in each event from the preliminary rounds advance to the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, which will host the nation’s best on June 8-11 at Hayward Field.
