Ervin Christon represent Arkansas in WNBA

FAYETTEVILLE – Former Razorback women’s basketball players Lauren Ervin and Shameka Christon are off to good starts in the Women’s NBA season.

Christon begins her fifth season with the New York Liberty while Ervin made her WNBA debut for the Connecticut Sun.

Chirston is the leading scorer for the Liberty at 17 ppg, playing in two games and starting one.

A third round draft pick for the Sun last season, Ervin spent the WNBA season completing the rehab from her mid-senior season torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Healthy and on the Sun roster, Ervin has played in four games this season off the bench.

The two former Razorbacks matched up in the season opener of the WNBA season as the Liberty faced the Sun. Christon led the Liberty with 13 points, but the Sun took a 66-57 win at New York. Ervin came off the bench to play 10 minutes for the Sun.

Christon missed game two for the Liberty, who are 0-3 to start the season, but came off the bench in the most recent New York game to score 21 points as the team’s only double-digit scorer in a 63-60 loss at San Antonio.

Christon spent her winter off-season playing in Russia, and is a returning tri-captain for the Liberty.

Ervin is playing six minutes a game off the bench for the 1-3 Sun, and has made an appearance in all four games.
