ESPNU announces volleyball TV schedule

FAYETTEVILLE – ESPNU has announced its Wednesday Night Women’s Volleyball schedule for the 2010 season. The University of Arkansas volleyball team will be featured as part of the weekly showcase as the Razorbacks travel to Baton Rouge, La., for an Oct. 13 matchup at defending Southeastern Conference champion LSU. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The consistent package is a first of its kind for ESPNU and NCAA women’s volleyball.

Action begins Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. with Nebraska at Iowa State and runs eight consecutive weeks concluding the last Wednesday, Nov. 3, with an Oklahoma-Texas A&M and Saint Mary’s-San Diego doubleheader. The last six weeks of the package are doubleheaders, and seven of the 14 telecasts are available on ESPNU HD.

The SEC has five conference matchups, followed by the Big 12 with four intra-conference matches. The West Coast Conference and the Western Athletic Conference each have two matches featuring league teams and the SWAC will have one.

Nine of the teams featured in the Wednesday night schedule were ranked in the Sept. 6 release of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, while three others were receiving votes. There are four top-25 matchups currently on the schedule, including one potential top 10 meeting.
