FAYETTEVILLE – The 2011 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championship will be featured on ESPNU Thursday evening. A highlight package of the conference meet will be run on SportsCenterU which will air at 9:30 p.m. (CT). The University of Arkansas cross country teams picked up three titles-one team and two individual-at the 2011 SEC Championship.
The conference meet was held Oct. 31 in Maryville, Tenn., at the Lambert Acres Golf Club. In the men’s race, the Razorbacks ran to the program’s 19th SEC team title behind an individual championship run by junior Eric Fernandez. Arkansas placed its five scorers inside the top 13 and collected 33 team points to finish ahead of runner-up Florida (66 points) and third-place Georgia (68).
For the Razorback women, senior Kristen Gillespie won the SEC individual title to pace Arkansas to a second-place team finish. All five of the team’s scorers placed inside the top 17 to finish behind SEC champion Vanderbilt and ahead of bronze finisher Florida.
