FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas men’s basketball team will play two exhibition games this fall hosting LeMoyne-Owen on Saturday, Nov. 6 and Victory University on Thursday, Nov. 11 at Bud Walton Arena. Game time for the LeMoyne-Owen contest has yet to be determined while the Victory contest is set for a 7 p.m. start.
Fans can get their first look at the Razorbacks when they play in their annual Red-White scrimmage on Friday, Oct. 22, and get to see the 2010-11 Razorbacks take on their first opponent in the exhibition opener in early November.
The Razorbacks played LeMoyne-Owen a year ago at Bud Walton Arena in an exhibition contest and picked up a 102-69 victory. Eight Razorback players played 15 minutes or more in the contest and Rotnei Clarke led all scorers with 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting and four three-point baskets. Marshawn Powell showed fans a glimpse of what was to come as he scored 18 points and grabbed a team leading nine rebounds on 50-percent shooting from the floor. In all, five Razorbacks scored 10 or more points in the win.
Arkansas’ game with Victory University is a new series for the 2010-11 preseason. Victory is located in Memphis, Tenn., and is led by head coach Scott Robinson. The squad features nine players from the Memphis area and has a couple more from bordering states including Skylor Bkacklor, a 7-0 freshman from Bell City, Mo.
The Razorbacks step on the court for the first time this season on Friday evening for the first of what will be a long weekend of practices as they prepare for the strains of the season.
