Fassi Solid At Ochoa Invitational
MEXICO CITY, Mexico – University of Arkansas sophomore Maria Fassi is tied for third place shooting a 3-under 69 in the first round of the Citibanamex Lorena Ochoa Invitational Presented by Aeromexico and Delta in Mexico City, Mexico, on Thursday.
Fassi, who picked up her second college win at the ANNIKA Invitational this fall, is just two shots off the lead in the 35-player field. She is one of just three amateur players at the event.
The Hildalgo, Mexico, native was steady all day turning in a scorecard with four birdies and one bogey for her round. Fassi played the first nine even and was 3-under on the back side shooting 36–33—69. She hit 13 of 14 fairways and 15 of 18 greens in regulation in round one.
Fassi is not the only player with Razorback ties in the field. #ProHogs Gabriela Lopez finished the day tied for 17th overall shooting an even par 72. Recent graduate Regina Plasencia is tied for 24th overall with a 2-over 74.
