FAYETTEVILLE — The No. 6 Arkansas men’s cross country team will highlight the year’s 25th Annual Chile Pepper Festival at Agri Park in Fayetteville. The event features more than20 NCAA Division I entries and a total of 45 collegiate entries. The race will feature one other team in the USTFCCCA top-30 rankings and five other schools that are ranked at the regional level. Also in the field will be the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Individual National Champion in Kennedy Kithuka from Texas Tech. Villanova will be representing the Big East Region in the No. 27 spot in the USTFCCCA National Rankings. Along with the Razorbacks, there will be five teams competing this weekend that are featured in the USTFCCCA Regional Rankings. Oklahoma will line-up against the Razorbacks for the second time the season and will represent the Midwest Region as the No. 4 team. Arkansas sits atop of the South Central Regional Rankings, but four teams from the region will be in attendance, UALR comes into the race at No. 9 in the region followed by Central Arkansas at No. 11, Louisiana-Monroe at No. 12 and North Texas at No. 15. Representing the West Region, Loyola Marymount is the No. 10 team in the region and making the trip all the way from Los Angeles, Calif. Other notable teams include Baylor, which is hosting the 2013 NCAA South Central Regional, Dallas Baptist University, Florida A&M, Harding, LSU, Oral Roberts and TCU. The collegiate 8K race is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. start at Agri Park in Fayetteville. Live results will be available at www.branchsportstech.com.
