FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 69 University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will play their final home matches this weekend against the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers on Friday and Sunday at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
"We are looking forward to another tough SEC weekend," said head coach Robert Cox. "In this conference there are always competitive matches, and this weekend is no exception."
First on the schedule is the No. 43-ranked Crimson Tide of Alabama. Alabama has a record of 8-7 (1-5 SEC) for the year. They have lost their last two matches. Their last win was 7-0 victory against South Carolina. Although they have no individual players in the rankings, they do have the No. 76th ranked doubles team in Jarryd Botha and Ricky Doverspike. First serve is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Friday.
"Both teams are very highly ranked, and this weekend there is going to be some good tennis," said Cox.
Next up for the Hogs is the No. 18 Auburn Tigers. The Tigers are 11-6 on the season and 3-3 in the SEC. They have won their last three matches, including their most recent victory against Kentucky. Before meeting the Hogs on Sunday, the Tigers will face LSU on Friday. The Hog’s match against Auburn will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Sunday will also be senior day for the Razorback squad. Seniors Matt Hogan, Chris Nott and Nick Spinazze will be honored prior to the match for their contributions to the Razorback team and the University.
"Senior day is always a very special time," said Cox. "All three of these young men have represented Arkansas very well and I am proud to have had them."
