FAYETTEVILLE- The University of Arkansas football team concluded its week of full practices Thursday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium leading up to Saturday’s game at South Carolina. The 17th-ranked Razorbacks (6-2, 3-2, SEC) enter the game against the 18th-ranked Gamecocks (6-2, 4-2, SEC) with a 14-2 record all-time as the No. 17 team. The UA-SC game is set to kick off Saturday at 6 p.m. CT inside Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C., on ESPN.
Head coach Bobby Petrino, off to his best start at Arkansas, saw a sound week of practice unfold for the Razorbacks, noticing players in the offensive trenches stepping up in the process.
"I think we’ve had a good week of practice," Coach Petrino said. "Our offensive line has shown a lot of leadership. They continue to get better each week in practice. They start every week being more and more of our emotional leaders on the team and that helps a lot."
Coach Petrino explained that being effective in rushing the ball will complement the Razorback passing game against the Gamecocks.
"They are very good against the run in their defensive front," Coach Petrino said. "We feel like we need to go in and be able to establish the run."
As the UA team prepares to travel to South Carolina, Coach Petrino feels the Razorbacks have the correct mindset to find success this weekend.
"Our guys understand the extent of the game," Coach Petrino said. "And they are fired up to go on the road and play in another big game."
