First-ever 197 leads No. 7 past No. 16 Auburn

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas posted the all-time highest score in school history and recorded top 10 scores in three events as the No. 7 Razorbacks recorded a 197.025-196.425 victory over No. 16 Auburn on Friday in Barnhill Arena.

Freshman Amanda Siebert, from Springdale, closed the competition with a 9.800 on floor to secure the record and the winfor the 3-2 Razorbacks.

“I was just telling myself to go out and have fun,” Siebert said. “Everyone was telling me to do what I do. Michelle (Stout) was reminding me to relax and enjoy it. It’s like a dream come true.”

The previous record was 196.950 set in last year’s NCAA Championship Session II to send Arkansas into the NCAA Super Six. Arkansas recorded the top score in the nation a week ago with the 196.750 total in the win over No. 12 Kentucky.

“We have been trying to get this record for the last two years,” co-head coach René Cook said. “To do it tonight at home was great. We had a great environment and this just keeps building our confidence.”

Other highlights included senior Casey Jo Magee’s career-high matching 9.950 on beam, which ties the school record; Magee’s career-best 9.925 on bars, which ties for second-best in school history; sophomore Jaime Pisani recording a career-best 9.950 on vault, which ties for the second-best score in school history; a team vault score of 49.300, which ties for the seventh-best mark in school history; a team score of 49.250 on bars, which is the third-best in program history; and a team score of 49.350 on beam, which is the third-best in Razorback history.

Magee won the all-around with 39.625 points while winning bars (9.925) and beam (9.950), and tying Pisani for the title on floor (9.875). Pisani won the vault title (9.950).

Other highlights were Magee’s season-best 9.875 on floor, Sarah Nagashima’s career-high matching 9.850 on bars, Pisani’s career-high matching 9.850 on beam, Stacy Bartlett’s season-best 9.825 on beam and Amy DeFilippo’s season-high 9.875 on beam.

“Everybody was phenomenal,” Cook said. “They all push each other.”

In the first rotation, Arkansas recorded a season-high 49.300 on vault while Auburn had a 49.125 on bars. The 49.300 ties for the seventh-best vault score in UA history.

In addition to Pisani’s 9.950, Magee had a 9.875, and Mariah Howdeshell, Siebert and Nagashima a 9.825 each.

For Auburn, Kendall Swartz had a 9.875 and Allyson Sandusky a 9.850 on bars.

In the second rotation, the Razorbacks had a 49.250 on bars while the Tigers had 49.125 on vault. Through two events, Arkansas led 98.550-98.325. The 49.250 is the third-best bars score in Razorback history.

Magee had a season-best 9.925, Nagashima a career-high matching 9.850 and DeFilippo a 9.850. Howdeshell had a 9.825 and Pisani a 9.800.

For Auburn on vault, Justine Foster recorded a 9.900.

On beam, Magee matched the school record, which she already shared with Rachel Barnett, of 9.950. DeFilippo recorded a season-high 9.875, Pisani had a season best 9.850, Nagashima matched her season best of 9.850 and Bartlett had a season-high 9.825.

Arkansas had a team score of 49.350 on beam, which is a season high and the third-best in school history.

Auburn, which was led by Rachel Inniss’ 9.850, had a 48.875 on floor.

Through the third rotation, Arkansas led 147.900-147.200.

In the final rotation, Arkansas recorded a 49.125 on floor while Auburn had a 49.225 on beam.

For the Razorbacks, Magee had a season-high 9.875, Pisani a 9.875, Nagashima a 9.825, Siebert the 9.800 and Kelci Lewis a 9.750.

For Auburn, Inniss had a 9.875 on beam.

The meet was televised by ESPNU and will air in a tape-delay broadcast on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m.

The Razorbacks are on the road next week, traveling to Georgia.
