Five Razorbacks Set For Weekend Play

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Five current and former University of Arkansas women’s golf student-athletes are set to tee it up on Friday in round one of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G.

Current Razorback Alana Uriell earned a sponsor’s exemption to this year’s field. She joins professional players Stacy Lewis, Gabriela Lopez, Emily Tubert and Regina Plasencia this weekend. Plasencia is in the field by way of a Monday qualifier that saw five Razorbacks compete in the field of 17 for a chance to advance.

Uriell is making her second appearance at this event. She advanced through the qualifier last year as did Plasencia. Uriell shot 70-75=145 while Plasencia posted scores of 72-71=143 as they both missed the cut for Sunday’s final round.

Lewis is an 11-year veteran of the event and won the title in 2014. Lopez is making her second appearance as a professional but earned three sponsor’s exemptions during her time with the Razorbacks and made her first pro appearance last year. Tubert also played three times on a sponsor’s exemption with her best finish, a tie for 48th, coming in 2011.

Uriell is the first Razorback off the tee at 8:03 a.m. She is playing with Azahara Munoz and Lee-Anne Pace and the group tee off from the 10th hole. Lewis follows Uriell on the same tee at 8:14 a.m. playing with Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Gerina Piller. Tubert begins at 1:58 p.m. from No. 1 with Morgan Pressel and Jaye Marie Green followed in order by Lopez at 2:09 p.m. and Plasencia at 2:20 p.m. Lopez is paired with Pernilla Lindberg and Bronte Law while Plasencia will play with Lindy Duncan and Nicole Broch Larsen.
