Five games in four days

FAYETTEVILLE- The University of Arkansas softball team, now 18-9 overall and 2-6 in the Southeastern Conference, plays a doubleheader with Murray State on Thursday and a three-game series with No. 4 Florida this weekend.

The Razorbacks are coming off a weekend series against then- No. 9 Tennessee, including a 4-1 victory on Saturday. The win on Saturday was the first time Arkansas has defeated Tennessee since the 2008 season.

"I thought we competed well last weekend against Tennessee," says head coach Mike Larabee. "The win on Saturday was a great win for our program."

The Murray State Racers are coming off a 1-2 weekend against Jacksonville State. The Racers have an overall record of 9-5 and 4-1 in Ohio Valley Conference. The Racers have played some of the same teams the Razorbacks have already faced this season, including Ole Miss, Tennessee State and Tennessee. Murray State defeated Ole Miss and Tennessee State twice while falling to Tennessee.

The Racers also have another midweek doubleheader matchup with Arkansas Pine Bluff on Wednesday before they head to Fayetteville to take on the Razorbacks.

"Murray State is a very competitive team," says Larabee. "We need to come into the games and play solid defense and have some timely hits if we want to come away with two victories." The No. 4 Florida Gators come to town on Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Razorbacks at Bogle Park. The Gators are 26-2 on the season and 7-1 in SEC play. "Florida has one of the top programs in the country," says Larabee. "We can compete with Florida, but we need to come out playing at a high level so we can put ourselves in the position to win."

The game against Florida on Friday night is also Arkansas’s Pink game to promote breast cancer awareness.

Saturday’s 1 p.m. matchup with the Gators will be "Dollar Day" with admission to the game only being $1.
