FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team continued practice Wednesday during its first bye week of the season. Defensive coordinator Chris Ash met with the media after practice and spoke about defensive practice this week.
“Yesterday was a bunch of developmental practice with the younger guys," Coach Ash said. "Today we practiced with the ones and twos. We had good spirit, good energy. We got a head start on Auburn a little bit today, which was good. Guys came out and had a good practice.”
Coach Ash also talked about the development of the program.
“We are continuing to get better," Coach Ash said. "A lot of people want to talk about improvement being measured on a scoreboard. That’s what a lot of people look at, and there are so many things in this program that we’ve improved on from back in the spring until today. We’re light years ahead of where we were, but still a long, long way to go. I don’t worry about my spirits. The players are in great spirits. They understand the big picture of what we’re trying to get done here. They’ve been great."
Kickoff for the Auburn game on Saturday, Nov. 2, is scheduled for either 5 p.m. on ESPN2 or 6 p.m. on ESPN. The Auburn game is the final on-campus contest for the Razorbacks this season and will also serve as Senior Day. The program’s seniors will be recognized in a special ceremony prior to kickoff. Arkansas has won two straight in the series and four of the last five.
