FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team held practice on Thursday in preparation for its next game against Southern Miss on Saturday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Head coach Bret Bielema was available to the media after practice and spoke about the team’s week.
"I’m very excited," Coach Bielema said. "I thought our kids locked in during the course of the week. We were really going back to last Sunday. I talked about it being a week about us. We needed to work on the game plan, concentrate on the things that we didn’t do well Saturday. I thought they locked into that. Today was a very crisp day for practice for a Thursday, probably the best of the year for us."
Coach Bielema also talked about the earlier kickoff time.
“Ask any young man between the ages of 18 and 22, sometimes that alarm comes a little too early,” Coach Bielema said. “We trained our guys during fall camp. Again, we got them up and at a pre-game meal four hours before our practices. We try to simulate that, moving forward. Sometimes you get overly concerned when you travel some time zones. I don’t think that’ll be an issue for our guys. They seem ready to play.”
Kickoff for Saturday’s game vs. Southern Miss is set for 11:21 a.m. The game will be nationally televised on SEC TV. For a complete list of affiliates, click here.
