Former Tennis Hog Takes ATP Futures Title

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Hog netter Rohan Gajjar won the doubles title at the ATP Iran Futures tournament, July 9-15, 2007, in Teheran, Iran.

Gajjar, who completed his eligibility with the Razorbacks in May, 2006, competed with doubles partner Aditya Madkekar.

In the opening round of play, the duo topped Rustam Hajiyev and Talat Rahimov, 6-0, 6-1. In the quarterfinals, the pair edged No. 4 Clement Morel and Charles Roche, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. They advanced to the finals with a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5 win over Artem Isaev and Pavel Katliarou. In the finals, Gajjar and Madkekar took the title from No. 1 Syrym Abdukhalikov and Sergei Betov, 7-6 (2), 6-7 (2), 7-5.

In singles play, Gajjar took a first round victory from Shahab Hassani-Nafez, 6-1, 6-2. He lost in the second round of play to No. 4 Abdukhalikov, 6-3, 6-2.
