Four Razorbacks Honored By NSCAA

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four Razorbacks were selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region teams on Wednesday, adding to Arkansas’ historic 2016 season.

Senior Claire Kelley, junior Jessi Hartzler and sophomore Qyara Winston were second team selectees while freshman Stefani Doyle earned a spot on the third team.

Kelley concluded her four-year career as a Razorback with eight goals and a career-high 13 assists and 29 points. Her game-winning goal in the 77th minute against Vanderbilt on Nov. 2 in the SEC Tournament lifted Arkansas past the Commodores 1-0 and eventually set the team down the path toward its first SEC Tournament championship match since 1996.

Hartzler’s career-high eight goals, one assist and 17 points directly contributed to the Razorbacks’ success on the field in 2016. She played a dominant role in several matches, especially in Arkansas’ historic victory against then-No. 4 Florida on Sept. 16 when the Kearney, Missouri, native scored the Razorbacks’ two goals in the 2-1 upset win.

Winston was a key member of a Razorback defense that produced six shutout wins and allowed a total of only four goals in a three-week span from Arkansas’ season finale against LSU to its postseason run at the SEC and NCAA tournaments.

Doyle had a phenomenal freshman debut for the Razorbacks, earning six goals, three assists and 15 points. She was a major contributor in the team’s season-opening win against James Madison and their upset victory against then-No. 2 Duke, the program’s first win over a top-10 program in school history.
