FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After helping the No. 16 Razorback women’s tennis team complete a sweep of their final non-conference matches with Colorado and Rice, freshman Jade Frampton was named as the SEC Freshman of the Week earlier today by the league offices in Birmingham, Ala. This is the second time this season that Frampton has been given the award and puts the team’s weekly award number at three for the season.
Frampton has continued her extremely strong start to the spring season by, once again, going undefeated in the Hogs two weekend matches with the Buffaloes and Owls. These last two wins put her at 7-0 during this dual season and seems to have given the Razorbacks good depth at the lower positions heading into conference play. Not only were her singles matches nearly flawless, but it also continues a streak of eight straight set wins by the Utah native dating back to the Virginia Winter Invite in early January.
In doubles, Frampton and her playing partner, Valentina Starkova, were very much an integral part of helping the Razorbacks win the doubles point against Colorado and Rice. In the match against the Owls, it was their court win that clinched the doubles point for the Hogs, a solid 8-5 victory. Notching two more wins under their belt, Frampton and Starkova are now 6-6 this dual season and 12-9 overall.
Arkansas will begin their SEC schedule this weekend at the Billingsley Tennis Center when they face South Carolina at noon on Friday and then Florida on Sunday, also at noon.
