FAYETTEVILLE – Soon-to-be sophomore Regina George, a sprinter on the Arkansas Razorback women’s track and field team,competed in the finals of the 400 metersat the 13th IAAF World Junior Championships on Thursday. The event is being held Tues.-Sun., July 19-25, at the newly built Stade Moncton 2010 Stadium, in Moncton, Canada.
The Chicago, Ill., native picked up a sixth-place finish in Thursday’s quartermile finals. She clocked a time of 53.83. George, competing for Team USA,will run in the prelims of the 4×400-meter relay onSaturday and the finals on Sunday.
George advanced to the finals after two successful races earlier in the week. In Tuesday’s 400-meter preliminaries, George clocked a time of 54.17 for second place in heat one and advanced to Wednesday’s semifinals. In Wednesday’s 400-meter semifinals, George was fourth in the first heat at a clocking of 53.59 and she had to wait until the last of three sections to learn she advanced as the last time qualifier.
