Golf classroom success

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s golf team ranks 20th in the nation for team grade point average the National Golf Coaches Association announced Monday.

The Razorbacks finished the year with a 3.554 team GPA and are the only team from the Southeastern Conference ranked in the top 25.

"The first goal on our goal board when you walk into our locker room is a team GPA of 3.5 or better," said Razorback head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor. "We want to continue to build a solid foundation both in the classroom and on the golf course. This team was very motivated to reach this goal and I’m excited that they have been recognized for their achievements in the classroom."

The Razorback women’s golf team has historically been a high-achieving team in the classroom. They boast three selections in Corinna Rees, Tiffany Phelps and Victoria Vela to the NGCA All-Scholar Team and had four honorees on the Southeastern Conference’s Spring Academic Honor Roll.

To be selected to the NGCA All-Scholar Team Award, a program must count all of its student-athletes for the 2009-10 season.
