Golf posts highest-ever semester grades

Jump to list FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas women’s golf team recorded a 3.47 team grade point average for the spring 2007 semester it was announced recently. That mark is a program best and betters the previous mark of 3.31 reached most recently in the spring semester of 2005. "Academics and athletics go hand-in-hand," said Arkansas head coach Kelley Hester. "I’m very proud of this team’s accomplishments in the classroom and I think that the ability to balance academics and athletics as well as everything else that life throws at you is an important characteristic for success." The Lady Razorback golf team had six athletes earn selection to the Women’s Athletics Department Athletic Director’s list with grades in the 3.50-3.99 range. They are NCAA champion Stacy Lewis (finance), Lucy Nunn (kinesiology), Tiffany Phelps (international business), Corinna Rees (liberal arts), Whitney Sylvan (kinesiology), and Tanica van As (communications). Freshman Kristin Ingram (recreation) earned selection to the Women’s Athletics Department Honor Roll (3.00-3.49) as well.
