FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Incoming freshman Brooke Matthews captured a win and two former and one future Razorback played well in round one of the U.S. Women’s Open on Thursday.

Matthews shot a 7-under 209 with rounds of 69-67-73 at the AJGA Junior at The Legends presented by Mid America Chevy Dealers at the Legends Country Club in Eureka, Missouri. The Rogers, Arkansas, native was nine shots better than the runner-up.

Former Razorbacks Gabriela Lopez and Stacy Lewis along with incoming transfer Dylan Kim are in Bedminster, New Jersey, for the U.S. Women’s Open. Lewis finished her round with a 1-under 71 and is tied for 29th overall.

The round was suspended due to darkness with Lopez and Kim still out on the course. Lopez is 2-under through 16 holes while Kim is 1-under through the first 15 holes. Both Lopez and Kim will finish round one in the morning.
