Goodman James Honored at National Convention

FAYETTEVILLE-University of Arkansas swimming head coach Anne Goodman James was the recipient of the 2005 Richard E. Steadman award. The College Swimming Coaches Association of America awarded Goodman James the honor at the 2005 CSCAA National Convention in Austin, Texas, May 24.

The Steadman award is presented annually to a high school, club or university swimming or diving coach that made extraordinary efforts in Coach Steadman’s beloved sport. The CSCAA only gives three major awards.

Goodman James said she was privileged to receive an accolade for working in a field that she loves.

“This award is a great honor,” Goodman James said. “I am one of those lucky people who have been able to take my childhood avocation, and turn it into my vocation, giving me a chance to share this wonderful experience with others through coaching.”

“I am honored to be on the same list with those great people who have received this award in previous years, like Tim Welsh of Notre Dame, Don Gambril of Alabama, John Mattos of Colorado State, and Paula Miller of Ithaca.”
