Goodman James Sees Variety in Schedule

FAYETTEVILLE-University of Arkansas swimming head coach Anne Goodman James announced the 2004-05 swimming and diving schedule. James said the schedule provides the team with a good mix of competition from many different conferences and programs. “We still have some very strong SEC (Southeastern Conference) opponents in LSU, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky and outstanding competition at the Aggie Invitational,” Goodman James said. “It’s a well-balanced schedule which will prepare us for SEC and NCAA’s.” The Lady Razorbacks only have three home meets, and begin the season against Drury on Oct. 22 inside Arkansas Natatorium. For the team’s first road trip, the Lady’Backs make two stops in Louisiana, on Oct. 29 against LSU and Alabama in Baton Rouge followed by Tulane and University of New Orleans in New Orleans, on Oct. 30. The Lady’Backs travel to Washington State for a Nov. 6 meet in Pullman, Wash., and College Station, Texas, for the Aggie Invitational Nov. 19-21 to end the fall semester. Arkansas begins the new year in Hawai’i as the Lady’Backs will be in Honolulu, Hawai’i, Dec. 31- Jan. 6 before returning home to face Tennessee Jan. 15 in SEC competition. The Lady’Backs travel to Lexington, Ky., for a meet with the Wildcats Jan. 22, before their last home meet of the season Jan. 29 against Kansas. The Orlando Invitational concludes the regular season for the Lady’Backs on Feb. 4-6 before the team travels to Gainesville, Fla., for the SEC Championships. Diving is set for Feb. 11-13 with swimming to follow on Feb. 16-19. NCAA Zone Diving Championships are March 11-13 in College Station, Texas followed by the NCAA Championships March 17-19 in West Lafayette, Ind.
