Groundstrokes – Feb. 23
The women’s tennis team competed in the one of the biggest tournaments of the year over this past weekend at the ITA National Indoors Championship in Charlottesville, Va. The Hogs reached the tournament as a result of winning their ITA Kickoff regional against Notre Dame. As luck of the draw would have it, the team faced No. 1 Stanford in their first match. For a full recap of that match click here. The Razorbacks were then slated to play No. 18 Washington after being sent to the consolation bracket, but came away with a 4-0 win. They then finished off their weekend with another top-five matchup against No. 5 California. With that last matchup against the Bears, the Hogs have now played three top-five teams this season. As a result of their tough weekend schedule, the Hogs moved up three spots in the ITA rankings to No. 16 in the nation, just two spots below their season high.
