Gym'Back meet televised by FSN

FAYETTEVILLE — The 19th-ranked University of Arkansas gymnastics team hosts No. 18 and Southeastern Conference rival Kentucky Friday in a meet that will be televised by FSN on a tape-delay basis. The meet begins at 7:00 p.m., in Barnhill Arena pitting the Gym’Backs against the Wildcats for the seventh time in the programs history. FSN, formerly known as FOX Sports Net will tape the event and air the meet Saturday, March 4, at 5:00 p.m. Central as part of the SEC-TV gymnastics coverage. FSN telecasts are available in 28 million homes across the region on FOX Sports Net South, Sun Sports Network and FOX Sports Net Southwest. The meet is not the first televised event for the Gym’Backs. In fact, it is the third of the season. Arkansas’ first TV experience this year came against No. 15 Penn State Feb. 3, when FOX KPBI picked up the meet also airing it in a condensed, tape-delayed version. Arkansas made their national cable debut at No. 5 Florida in a quad meet that included West Virginia and North Carolina. The meet was aired on ESPN2 the following week. The Gym’Backs currently have one other meet slated for television that being the SEC Championship meet in Birmingham, Ala., Saturday, March 25. That meet is also being picked up by FSN and airs Thursday, March 30, at 6:00 p.m., on the FSN network. Arkansas is in the midst of the longest home stand of the year, hosting three in a row at Barnhill. Action begins with Kentucky this Friday, followed by No. 13 Auburn, March 3, and No. 30 Washington March 12. Arkansas travels to No. 10 Nebraska March 19, followed by the SEC Championship March 25. The Gym’Backs return home after the conference meet hosting the 2006 NCAA South Central Regional Championship April 8. Tickets for all home events are still available.
