FAYETTEVILLE — The inaugural senior class for the University of Arkansas gymnastics team is scheduled to be featured Thursday, March 30, as part of the 2006 Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Championship broadcast aired by FSN. The broadcast is slated for a 6:00 p.m., Central, start on FSN South and Southwest, the nation’s largest regional sports television network and is expected to reach nearly nine million homes in nine states. Arkansas’ senior class including Katie Hardman, Melissa Leigh, Audra Loveless, Hannah McLeod and Dana McQuillin took part in their final SEC Championship after starting the Gym’Back program in 2003. Hardman and McQuillin were both interviewed and the entire senior class was earmarked for the feature. The meet, which took place Saturday, March 25, saw the then-19th-ranked Gym’Backs finish sixth overall while top-ranked Georgia ran away with the team title. Arkansas’ score, a 194.650, was good enough to help the Gym’Backs move up a spot in the national rankings to No. 18, becoming one of the seeded teams as regional selections were announced. The Gym’Backs host this year’s South Central Regional meet Saturday, April 8, in Barnhill Arena. Also scheduled to attend are third-ranked Florida and No. 9 UCLA, also seeded in the event. The other teams from the South Central Region are Illinois, Illinois-Chicago and Southeast Missouri State. Arkansas will also host individuals from Texas Woman’s University and Illinois State. Tickets are still available for the regional meet. Adult tickets are just $10 while youth under 18 and UA students with an ID are just $5 each. University students can also take advantage of a special offer by the Women’s Athletics Department Tuesday, April 4. The Lady Razorback Ticket Office will give away 200 free tickets, one per person, from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. or while supplies last.
