He Said, She Said
He Said, She Said is a continuing diary from the Coaches Cook. Find out what’s going on with the team on an ongoing basis.
December 1, 2004HE SAID….First, I want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season filled with love and respect for each other. I know that sounds kind of corny, but I do mean it! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and, all our families are doing well!Everyone picked their ‘Secret Santa’ (Harry Hanukkah for you Kimmi!) last week, and they will be revealed at our annual Holiday Party in a few weeks. One of our favorite things is that everyone makes up a poem about their person and, it is revealed at the party. These are always quite entertaining! On a personal note, I really like when my Secret Santa brings me peanut m&ms. Hint, Hint! Now as we close out 2004 there is an opportunity to reflect on the past, and embrace the future as we live in the present. This year was challenging, f ull of different emotions, ups and downs, but through it all we have arrived to this point. It was a successful year in many ways, and a joy to watch the girls grow as people, and step up as athletes. We are excited for the upcoming season and the opportunity to learn more about ourselves. I feel that we are finally gaining some maturity as we approach our third competitive season. One of the major lessons we have tried to teach our young team is that each person affects the other. Also, that each person has a responsibility for their teammate. It is often much easier to focus on oneself, and not be aware of your surroundings. However, a team cannot be successful without the whole being sound. We are definitely getting there. On a more personal note, I continue to experience more first since coming to Arkansas three years ago. It’s good to know, even with all my years of experience I am still challenged and intrigued by my profession. Finally, I want to congratulate Audra Loveless on her engagement, that was some Thanksgiving Break! She is planning to wed after graduation, Congrats A.J.!
