September 21, 2007 Well, we are off and running with purpose and resolve for the upcoming season. Our team reported back in pretty good shape and ready to go! We will be completing our voluntary workout segment with strength and conditioning next week. Then, we will attack a more structured training program aimed at refining our routines and preparing for competition. Some of the girls have upgraded their difficulty or cleaned up form errors from last season. Most notably, Amy DeFilippo is progressing on her double layout off bars, Yurchenko Arabian Layout, and Onodi on beam. Casey Jo has modified her Delchev on bars to a pike position, and Michelle Stout has improved her bar form tremendously. The freshmen are adjusting well. Molly Lewis is almost ready to return to workouts after an off-season shoulder surgery. Stacy Bartlett will make an immediate impact on an already strong beam team. In addition, we are excited about Senior Samantha Cortez rejoining the uneven bar training squad after a layoff last year. We changed up our conditioning program this year. I am extremely pleased with the changes and the team is responding well to the challenges. We’ve added both Pilates and Spinning and adjusted our strength program. Everyone can feel the results already! The team is not only working hard, their attitudes have been outstanding. We are excited about the upcoming year, and reaching our potential. We hope you follow the progress of our team throughout the season. The team will have our first intra-squad next Friday September 28th, be sure to check back for updates!GO GYMBACKS!
