Happy Holidays From Hunter Yurachek

Happy Holidays Razorback Nation!

As we all head into the Holiday weekend, surrounded by family and friends, my wife Jennifer and I wanted to reach out to our new family and friends in the great State of Arkansas and wish each of you a blessed and Happy Holiday season.

It is hard to believe that almost three weeks have passed since Chancellor Steinmetz afforded me the extraordinary opportunity to serve as your Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics. Jennifer, my family and I have been welcomed with open arms by the entire Arkansas community, since our initial arrival in Fayetteville on December 6. We are so thankful to each and every Razorback constituent that has made us feel welcome whether it was on the court at Bud Walton Arena as the Yurachek and Morris families “Called the Hogs” or at Hugo’s as we enjoyed an incredible hamburger or at Central United Methodist Church as we enjoyed a beautiful holiday service.

I am looking forward to having my feet firmly planted in Fayetteville shortly after the New Year. But most of all, I am excited for the opportunity to serve and lead an incredible staff of coaches and administrators in making a profound difference in the lives of an amazing group of Razorback student-athletes. I mentioned during my initial remarks that the Department of Athletics serves as the front porch here at the University of Arkansas and will be a point of extreme pride for all Razorback fans across this state and region. Our goal, plain and simple, is not to be good, not to be great, but rather to be the best in everything we do day in and day out. We will achieve this goal by creating opportunities for our student-athletes to achieve the highest level of success, academically, athletically and in their personal development. And by their success stories, we will all enjoy success within the Razorback family.

At the end of the day, we all have one thing in common- we love the University of Arkansas. In order for us to reach our true potential as an athletics program, we need the Razorback family all pushing in the same direction moving forward. My first 100 days of the New Year, will be hectic but simple. I plan on doing a lot of listening. Listening to our student-athletes, our coaches and staff, and all who support the University of Arkansas across our state. It is important and critical for me to connect and build strong relationships with each of you moving forward.

Jennifer and I, and our three boys – Ryan, Jake and Brooks are so excited about the next chapter and adventure in our lives. It is truly an honor and a privilege for me to serve as your Director of Athletics at the University of Arkansas and I promise the entire Razorback nation, you will always get my best.

Best wishes for a blessed a Happy Holiday season. Our journey together moves forward at full speed as we turn the calendar to 2018.
Go Hogs!
