Harbin Garners AVCA All-Region Accolades

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Taking on an expanded role in her senior season, outside hitter Danielle Harbin responded with a standout campaign that has been awarded with AVCA All-South Region Honorable Mention honors as announced Tuesday morning. The Razorbacks’ senior co-captain becomes the 24th player in program history to earn an all-region certificate and is now eligible for All-America consideration.

Harbin averaged 4.22 kills per set which ranks third in the Southeastern Conference and 33rd in the NCAA. She stands second in the league with 4.78 points per set which is good for 29th among the nation’s attackers. Harbin produced double-digit kills in 24 of 30 matches including 15 matches with 15 or more kills and eight matches with 20 or more kills.

The Mobile, Alabama, native established career highs of 27 kills against Georgia (Oct. 30) and finished the season with 464 kills, a top-15 figure in program history. She became the 13th player in program history to tally 450 kills in a single season. With her fourth of 20 kills at Mississippi State (Nov. 20), Harbin became the 23rd Razorback to reach 700 career kills.

After averaging 5.56 kills per set, 3.33 digs per set and 0.78 blocks per set during a home weekend, Harbin was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 31) for the first weekly honor of her career. She had four double-doubles and was third on the team with 82 total blocks including a team-leading 17 solo blocks. Harbin tallied five or more digs in 19 matches including a career-best 18 digs against Mississippi State (Oct. 26).

Overall, Harbin’s pick marks the 38th all-region honor in program history spread among 24 student-athletes. Arkansas now has at least one all-region performer in six-consecutive seasons, and seven of the past eight years. Eleven Razorbacks are multiple-time selections with Yarleen Santiago, Libby Windell and Jasmine Norton each earning three in their careers.
