Harter, Morris and Scott Earn Regional Accolades

EUGENE, Ore. – Sandi Morris, Dominique Scott, and Lance Harter continue to bring in postseason awards for the No. 2 University of Arkansas women’s track and field team, claiming South Central top honors in Monday’s release of the USTFCCCA regional awards. The Razorbacks are back in action this week at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

In his 25th season at Arkansas, Harter was named the South Central Region Coach of the Year after leading his team to victory at the SEC Outdoor Championships and 17 national qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. With their win at the conference meet, the Razorback completed the program’s third SEC Triple Crown. During the season, Arkansas spent three weeks as the No. 1 team in the country.

Morris and Scott dominated the SEC Championships winning their respective events in commanding fashion, combining for three wins and 30 points toward the Razorbacks’ total. In recognition of their work during the outdoor season, Morris has been named the South Central Region Field Athlete of the Year while Scott was selected as the South Central Region Track Athlete of the Year.

Improving on her top indoor mark of 4.66m/15-3.5, Morris cleared 5.72m/15-5.75 at the SEC Championships to break the collegiate record. Her win at the SEC meet marked her second-consecutive outdoor title at the meet. Morris enters this week’s NCAA meet as the national leader in the pole vault and the winner in five of six outdoor meets. For her continued success, Morris has appeared on the past seven Bowerman Watch List releases.

Scott was named the SEC Runner of the Year after wins at 1,500 and 5,000 meters at the conference meet. During the year, she broke school records at 5,000 and 10,000 meters and enters this week’s NCAA meet ranked fourth and third in those events, respectively. In addition to the school mark, her time of 32:11.60 at 10,000 meters stands as the 10th-fastest time in NCAA history.
