Harter, Robinson Sweep Regional Awards

NEW ORLEANS. – The fifth-ranked Arkansas women’s cross country team swept the South Central Region awards announced Tuesday by the USTFCCCA in recognition of the program’s eighth-consecutive regional title.

Capturing the South Central Regional Championship in her first attempt, true-freshman Katrina Robinson claimed the individual title with a time of 20:20.30. Robinson’s first-place finish marked the fifth-straight year a Razorback has finished in the top spot at the regionals. The Brisbane, Australia has competed at five meets this season recording top-two finishes on four of the five occasions.

Responsible for coaching the team to success, head coach Lance Harter has been named the South Central Region Coach of the Year. It is the 18th time Harter has been named Region Coach of the Year. Harter’s squad dominated the regional meet, having all seven runners finish in the top-15, while four finished in the top-five leading to a 78-point victory for the Razorbacks.

All seven of Arkansas’ runners earned All-Region honors as Sydney Brown, Carina Viljoen, and Taylor Werner earned All-Region recognition for the third consecutive year while Lauren Gregory earned the honors for a second-straight season. It was the third-straight season Arkansas had all seven of its runners earn All-Region honors, as the Razorbacks are the only team in the country to accomplish that feat.

The Razorbacks make a third trip to Madison, Wis. Saturday for the NCAA Championships. The women’s race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CT as Arkansas will make its final push for a championship.
