Harter, Razorbacks Release 2014 Indoor And Outdoor Schedules

FAYETTEVILLE — Head coach Lance Harter and the University of Arkansas men’s track and field team has announced its schedule for the 2014 indoor and outdoor seasons. The Razorbacks are set to host 8 meets–four indoor and four outdoor–this year, including the outdoor NCAA West Preliminary at John McDonnell Field. Arkansas and John McDonnell Field will host an NCAA West Preliminary for the second time since the introduction of the meet in 2003, having previously hosted the 2008 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships. The outdoor regional will be held May 29-31. The Razorbacks will begin their 2014 campaign in the Randal Tyson Track Center by hosting the Arkansas Invitational on Jan. 10, followed by the Arkansas Dual meet on Jan. 17, the day before the Arkansas High School Invitational. Arkansas will then travel to Lexington, Ky., for the Kentucky Invite on Jan. 24-25. Next, the team will host the Razorback Team Invitational, a scored team meet, before heading to New York, N.Y., for the Armory Collegiate Invite. To finish out the indoor season, the Razorbacks will host another scored meet in the Tyson Invitational as well as send part of the squad to the Husky Invitational on Feb. 14-15. The Razorbacks will then compete in championship season with the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships in College Station, Texas, and will round out the indoor season with the NCAA Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. “We are obviously excited about the new year,” head coach
Harter said. “We felt we had a spectacular indoor and outdoor season last year. We lost some people to graduation but we have added some new faces and this schedule will prepare us to face the best of the best each weekend and get us ready for championship season.” The outdoor season will begin with a trip to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the Disney Invitational on March 21-22, followed by competing in the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, on March 26-29. The Razorbacks will then split their squad and compete at the Stanford Invitational and in the Arkansas Spring Invitational on April 4-5. The Razorbacks will then host the John McDonnell Invitational on April 11-12. The team will then compete away from its home stadium the next two weekends, at the Mt. Sac Relays and Michael Johnson Classic on April 17-19 and the Drake and Penn Relays from April 23-27. Arkansas will finish out the non-championship season with the Arkansas Twilight meet, which takes place underneath the lights at John McDonnell Field. Before hosting the NCAA West Regional at John McDonnell Field on May 29-31, the Razorbacks will compete at the SEC Championships in Lexington, Ky., on May 15-18. Arkansas will continue its championship season at the 2014 National Championship in Eugene, Ore., at historic Hayward Field on June 11-14, and will conclude its season at the USA Jr. and Sr. Championships in Sacramento, Calif., on June 26-29.
