FAYETTEVILLE — The No. 45 University of Arkansas women’s tennis team dropped a pair of home matches last weekend, first losing a contested 4-3 contest to No. 20 Auburn on Friday and then being swept 4-0 by No. 4 Alabama on Sunday.
The Razorbacks (5-8, 0-4 SEC)continued a stretch in their scheduling in which they have faced seven straight nationally-ranked opponents, but were unable to come away with an upset in Fayetteville, Ark., last weekend.
Freshmen Shannon Hudson and Oleksandra Shkorupeieva each earned their first career SEC wins last weekend. Hudson also earned her first win over a ranked opponent this season defeating No. 114 Emily Flickinger of Auburn in straight sets (6-1, 6-3). Both Hudson and Shkorupeieva are tied for the team lead this season with six singles wins individually.
UA returns to the road this weekend and travels to face No. 10 Texas A&M on Friday, March 14, followed byMissouri on Sunday, March 16.
