Henry Throws Complete Game Shutout

FAYETTEVILLE-Sophomore pitcher Katy Henry recorded her first win of the season as the University of Arkansas softball team (3-8) defeated North Dakota State (1-6), 3-0, Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Lady’Back Invitational.

Henry (1-2) tallied a season-high nine strikeouts in a complete game performance, while only allowing one walk and five hits.

Sophomore infielder Dayna Huckabee led the offense with a pair of doubles and RBIs. Seniors Shana Easley and Blaire Perry each contributed a hit to the Lady’Back cause, while freshman infielder Kayla Johnson had a RBI.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he is happy with the progress that the Lady’Backs are making in the first home tournament of the season.

“I like the way we are starting to come around,” He said. “We had timing hitting. Katy Henry stepped up like the other two (pitchers) did yesterday. That’s three good performances in a row and if we continued to do that we’ll be just fine.”

The Lady’Backs conclude the round-robin tournament, Sunday, Feb.26, against Missouri-Kansas City at 1 p.m. and Missouri State at 3 p.m.
